MkV Golf 1.9TDI 90 S Mini Review

get into a 150TDI there a hoot! i drive em about now and again at work and always get out double checking the badge at the back. i always end up shaking my head thinking 'na it can't be a TDI it just can't be' :)

Just realised that on an 06 plate it's a TDI 105, not a 90.

Apparently the "GT TDI" is the one you want. Is that the 150PS version?

Yes, it would be.

But I wouldn't want one as my company motor.

Oh I don't know. Golfs aren't that bad, in need of a super diesel though - I reckon they'll get a 170-190 bhp unit when the Volvo C30 gets into swing.

They're not far off replacement now, so I suspect the 'hot' diesel will get the new Passat 170PS lump.

Certainly nowhere near as awful as anything with an Alfa Romeo badge!

Indeed they're lagging behind a little at the moment - the A3 has the new engine doesn't it?

You can also get the Golf with the new 16v 2L lump but it's not putting out as much power as in some of the others.
