Need SVA test?

At what point do botl one suspension and transmission mods require a SVA test on a stock body shell?

Replace the strut and dampers with camber adjustable top mount and preload, ride height, bump and rebound height adjustable ones. Direct aftermarket replacements for stock dampers on stock mounting points but smaller spring diameter. Just unbolt old ones and bolt these in. Replace the rusty pressed suspension links with welded tube camber adjustable ones. Again just unbolt and bolt these in. Replace the front suspension tension links with rose jointed caster adjustable ones. Again a bolt on replacement. Do these count against or does it require more extensive subframe and chassis mounting point mods to lose the 2 points for suspension? Can you lose these 2 points just by fitting non OEM dampers from say Kwik-fit? Or lowering springs?

Replace the FS5W71C gearbox with a FS5W71C gearbox with different ratios from a later car or use OS Giken internals. Replace R200 differential with a R200V LSD that was an option and standard on 2 years later cars with same chassis. Does it score 2 or 0 for tansmission?

Does an alloy or carbon prop shaft also lose the transmission points? Does a change to twin plate clutch count as transmission and lose points? Does a puck type clutch plate lose the transmission points? Do uprated drive shafts count?

Replace the track rods with ones that allow for change of track rod angle due to dropped suspension. Not the rack but part of steering = 0 or 2?

Replace the 4 stud hubs with 5 stud hubs, Rear from later model of same car, front from aftermarket on stock stub axles. It could be argued that the rear having the bearing housing (bolts to knuckle), bearing and hub (has end of drive shaft splined into it and retained by a nut) as an assembly is an axle. lose 2 points? Swap the front knuckle and stub axles for ones from same maker that just bolt in but have a bigger stub shaft diameter? Allows use of 5 stud hubs from car maker all round. Front axles changed - lose 2 points?

Total left if all mods lose points = chassis 5, engine 1 = 6 points. Would it be Q reg?

I presume register first mod later is not an option?

The LexusOC seem to be a)nice and b)knowledgeable on SVA matters...

...still seems to be lots of "perpetual loan" standard bitties doing the rounds :(

Wotizzit BTW?

botl one = bolt on!

It is registered. It's been registered the last 15 years.

Do these mods though being unable to present enough of the OEM parts in the required areas constitute sufficient to lose the points and render it liable to need a SVA as a modified car? Basically does an upgraded replacement part become a modification under the SVA rules? It's easy to see a 5 link rear end in an Escort as losing the points for suspension, axle and transmission due to amount of welding needed on the floorpan and being completely different but bolt in substitution of uprated parts is also a modification.

I imagine that's E-SVA on import cars under 10 years old.

I'd decoded that already :)

No real clue here I fear.

I would hope that provided your replacement parts conformed to Construction & Use there would be no problem...

Yup, that's the sack of snakes I'd been looking at for a friend - he ended up buying a ready reg'd 2004 Altezza RS200...

Niiiiice :)
