Went to see my local, friendly MOT tester today, partly so I could get a good look under the chariot of Wopditude, and now I'm mega happy.

The back box is full of condensation, rang the previous keeper to ask some questions, turns out he'd not used the car for about 8 months, but done the traditional "run it round the block once a week" stunt. Every week for 8 months, no wonder the back box is rusted, and full of condensation, but it's weldable so I don't care.

He also told me he changed the oil and filter last week to get rid of all the crap that might have accumulated, so that's a bonus. The filter does look brand new, and the sump plug washer is shiny, so I believe him.

Also spotted four new springs and shocks, two new track control arms and all new front suspension bushes, new rear beam bushes, new track rod ends, new discs and pads, and that the handbrake needs adjusting. Pad level warning light however is still flashing, typical wop wiring.

Sold the Sierra as well, made £50, so happy bunny!

A frame - car being towed runs on all four wheels. Leave the keys in the ignition and the castor angle does the rest.

Towing Dolly - front wheels off the ground and dolly swivels to give the necessary articulation.

A frame is fine because it fits in the boot between uses.

Towing dolly has ramps - the nose weight on the towball is practically zero.

Yes, you definitely can. Once you get your head around how it works, you'll see that it makes perfect sense. As others have said though, in law the vehicle being towed is a trailer when it's hooked up via the A frame. It's an unbraked trailer at that. Make your own bold choices here I'm afraid.

About fifty quid for an average back-box, from your local Kwik-Fit/ATS/Other.

IME they don't have stuff for older Alfas 'on the shelf', so it's quite a bit more than that.

But don't they just "order em in sir" ? In my experience, the likes of TIMAX and BOSAL make exhausts for every car in the Universe :)
