New Exhaust

Sep 21, 2003 17 Replies

After putting up with a mildly blowing exhaust for about six weeks, yesterday we finally had the new back box put on.

It'll last for twelve months, it's a Janspeed mild steel one, heh, but it only has to last until we take the Ka to the Arctic Circle.

Has a nicer burble to it under moderate load, not very loud at all which is good news, it's not actually that loud under full power, either, so yeah I'm happy. Mind you, there's a _huge_ increase of power to deal with . . . mwahahahahah! :)

I didn't think you had had the Ka that long Dervy. It doesn't sound like the Ford exhausts last very long

Yup. 35,000 miles isn't very many . . . although that said, we use the Ka in one of two ways. One, trundling about the city, often with a cold engine. Two, long haul trips all over the UK. It's the city driving that cause the problem!

As for the back box, heh I foolishly kept is and Charlie reckons it's in great nick, she can't see where it's blowing and is beginning to suspect it was /cough/ merely an excuse /cough cough cough/.

:)

6 weeks? i think you need your ears testing mate :) or hae youi decided to go for the saxo look now :)

My backbox fell off - literally after about that many miles.

Now got a new mild steel backbox, but the pipe from the cat to the backbox is now rusted to buggerey :(

although that said, we use the Ka

Ye gods, please don't me that the Dervman is turning into a boy racer??? You'll be hankering after a Saxo next... Did just spot a Ka on the web (can't remember where) with an RS Turbo lump installed.....

Phil

Sorry?

It was the tiniest of holes (usually followed by "darling"), honest, governor. :)

Never.

Do they do a VTd? :)

There's one on my website with the RST donk in it.

You sure about that. High performance panel filter, fog lights, light brows, rear spoiler, ford racing badges! Definite boy racer :)

, it's not actually that loud under full power, either, so yeah

:) we'll let you off then

So you know where I was coming from?

Actually, Charlie is disappointed, it's not loud enough. :(

A 'mean' looking Ka... I'm pretty sure that we can argue that :)

Meaner compared to standard (which isnt hard)!

Yeah, okay, how about, "slightly hungover Ka" - that better? :)

And Lucy was at 108K on the original exhaust, too! :)

Ssshhhhhs! Don't tell Charlie! :)

Did she expect a V8 rumble then?

I wasn't sure. Then I realised she only drove him when cold. The exhaust is _quiet_ until warmed up!

Cold chisel has a much better effect!!!
