[OT] POP3 email recommendations

Now my Tiscali account has been cancelled I've lost my email address. I don't want to use my ntl one because it was used in the past when I signed up to stuff so it's full of spam...

Can anyone recommend a decent, free, pop3 email service? I signed up for gmail but their pop service keeps timing out so it's pretty useless...

A decent amount of storage would be handy, but I don't need gigabytes of space. lavabit looks ok, with their 128MB storage, but I thought I'd consult with you lot?

Yahoo offers pop forwarding, it seems very reliable. I've have the same account set up like this for about 10 years heh :-)

Well I never; didn't know they did pop, I thought they were just webmail! No issues with spam?

Not free but almost free. What I did was register my own domain at

and get an email only service on it for about 80p a month. I know I'll have that email address for as long as I want and can setup different mailboxes for mail likely to result in spam and important mail. Plus you get 2GB storage, email forwarding, spam filter, antivirus, etc.

Nah I never get any through it, and I don't have the Spamguard turned on either.

same here you have to tick a box to accept ads but i've never had any really! great service goes a bit wobbly 2 times or so a year during tinkering but comes back the next day no probs, had mine for years and have my phone set up for it too :)
