Paging JackH

Do you happen to know a decent tyre place in this area that will fit customer-supplied tyres for a reasonable amount of dosh?

It looks like I can get a decent price on R888s for the MX5, but have to find someplace to get them fitted and balanced, preferably without taking the piss price-wise.

Yup.

My mechanic friend does all that.

You'd get to see his shed like trackday CRX too, if you popped over. ;-)

He normally charges tenner a rim... not sure how that compares to other places.

Was up there today sorting out all the finishing touches to the Passat which is now back on the road and in use... :-D

Had not one, but *two* separate customers turn up with 911s of the type you've got booking services etc.

He did a bare metal rebuild of a mid 70s Carrera for himself a few years back, too.

I guess what I'm trying to say is he's not exactly from the 'Thick-Fit' mould. ;-)

Boro Tyres Hi-Q place in Scarborough charges the same iirc. Yet changing an exhaust back box was £8 heh...

bit of a trek but the vauxhall dealership at my place charges £10 for 2 tyres fitted, but then they do rape you for the tyres in the first place. funny enough though they still charge that if you supply the tyres. or you ask one of the fitters nicely on your lunch break to sort it if you offer to take the wheels on and off for him that way it costs £0 but i wouldn't do that as it against company rules :)

Good stuff.

Bonus :)

That's fine, I'm happy to pay that for someone who does a good job.

Cool.
