New news server - and just writing test in the subject line is so predictable :-)

On a cheerier note.

My golf has never had remote locking, so I ordered a "funkfernbedeinung mit kabelset" from ebay Germany and plugged it straight in. Worked straight away. Even has a cool VW flippy key thing which i now need to have cut.

Well impressed for £30 delivered.

Cool :-) So all the gubbins was already there, just not in use? The wiring and 'motors' or whatever makes the door lock without you turning the key? What was the dudey you plugged in? Did it just go into the diag port and write to the ECU like these things -

Even my car's got that - boggo central locking. The remote bit is the extra...

My car is entirely keyless and button press free :-) You walk (or roll) away, it locks, you walk up to it, it opens then when you get in, you put your foot on the brake and press the start button. Actually that's one button press isn't it heh :-)

Shame I can't use it anymore...

Ah but how do you know it locks? If you walk back to check it opens again ;)

Well if you have tinfoil hat paranoia then you can lock it with the button on the handle or one of the buttons on the remote :-)

Like the Mercs that don't.

Got a URL for where you got that from?

Pater still owns my old poverty spec Mk4 Golf, and that would make a good Xmas present for him I reckon. :-)

Yeah- might be nice for our Lupo too.

Sorry - never saw the earlier post. Crap server.
