I've driven both in the last 12 months and the MX-5 is the one that put the biggest grin on my face. Drop a 13B turbo rotary in one and you would a recipe for fun.

9mpg was the order of the day in mine (GTB Twin Turbo). And they need to be run on at least 99RON. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Damn!!! I'm getting the same sort of economy out of my Liberty as I got out of a rental i30 Hyundai. About 10litres per 100kms. And I thrash mine everywhere. In other news I finally got it back from the panel beaters yesterday looking like a new one. : )

My Superglue was a fantastic car, tho as others have said the combination of their thirst and small fuel tank make them a pain for mile munching.

Dunno if you remember a couple of years back a colleague turbo'd his MX-5. I had a go, it was pretty quick... He flogged it and bought a VX220 Turbo. But now he's bought it back, and it turning it into a trackday car. He bought some big brakes (old ones are sat next to them...)

250hp out of a 5L V8?
Some where a lot less. 231 bhp rings bells.
here we go. So f*ck if it's got 230bhp in stock form, it's from about 10rpm and it has over 400nm torque, and it makes all the right noises. Tuning the 5.0 is a piece of piss, and the video says they did a
500bhp Miata with the Vortech supercharger.
You don't have to defend V8s to me, the 4.6 Rangie only has 220 bhp.
It just amused me that they said their 250hp engine was their breathed-on special.
Yep its a low state of tune. economical, with as much go at 1000 revs as it has at 5. Its the area under the torque curve that makes big lazy v8s fun. And they are strong. So 500bhp of nitrous is ok too.
I didn't get that though, I intepreted it as the 250 was the stock replacement and their specials were supercharged, nitroused etc.
But flat out, side by side in a straight line, it would be slower than a
250bhp, 230nm turbo'd 1.8 one. And the 1.8 one would eat it in the corners I'd imagine. As long the engine with less torque was kept on the boil, it would be faster. Hence why Vtec works in cars :) Granted, it might be nicer to drive the torquier stuff, they might be faster in gear at low rpm etc, but if you're flat out in a straight line, power is more important :)
