I have just bought my first car. A 2000 Renault Clio 1.4 Sport. Very nice car. I am just wondering what is the maximum size of alloys this car could take? I have some 15" Fox alloys on just now, but I would like to move up to 16" or 17".
Also, what sort of cost would there be to have new discs all round?
The above makes me think of the Harry Enfield sketch, when one of his characters meets Damon Hill, "I have a Renault too. It's a Renault nineteen gee tee esss one point four, very nice car. And I admire any man who drives a Renault. He'd be welcome around ours any time, long as he behaved himself. Oh he'd have to behave myself. I mean, if I've just finished the lawn, and nicely mown it would be too, when suddenly! There's Hill coming down out street at one hundred and thirty miles an hour!" etc. etc. etc.
Bear in mind that the bigger your wheel, the worse your ride and handling become on anything other than a glass-smooth surface (ie, not a UK road). You'll also get a performance defecit from the extra weight. Big alloys look nice, but if you bought the car to *drive* then steer clear.
Less than £60 for a full set of four discs - but you need to change the pads at the same time as the discs, so stick on another £60 for a full set. Couple of hours to fit at your local garage, and you're looking at a total of under £200 all inclusive.
