She's gone...

Missy[1] was taken away to go to auction. Ticks in all the boxes for condition, of course, and I know she's going to get a night out in Glasgow before going to Livingston, so I'm prepared for any damage which might happen in between collection and arrival at the auction place.

I'm going to miss that car. It was sometimes fun to drive, and my gf loved it. If it wasn't for the utterly crap local dealer (must make sure they spot my RX8 sometime) not fixing the leak promptly, properly or politely, I'd probably have kept it.

I personally think the RX8 is leagues ahead, and fantastic. My gf disagrees, due to the lack of height adjustment on the passenger seat and my current habit of making sure that the revs and performance are still how I remembered them last time I booted it for no good reason.

Hopefully when she finds a grey 2CV, she will forget all about VW New Beetles.

Richard [1] For those that don't recall, my Beetle was called Missy, on account of its large, round, black behind. The RX8 has no name yet, though "Vomit Comet" has been suggested from the passenger seat. It's taking me a while to adjust to what a NEW 190bhp car feels like, compared to a 15 year old, 115,000 mile 200bhp car. Overtaking might feel like a PS2 game from the driver's seat, but it apparently feels like a particularly unpredictable rollercoaster from the passenger seat.

RWD sports coupes all the fun of the fair on the public highway.

Wonder what she's going to say when you find a nice big round spot of white paint on the road and have got the knack of just getting the offside rear wheel on it and then squirt it round 90 degrees to exit right. Those painted mini roundabouts are very slippy, they don't sand them like white paint on the IOM. So slippy that one I used to abuse has now got a ring of kerb stones round it to stop me abusing it. Some spoilsport must have seen me.

You will soon learn to laugh at the Clio ads where they proclaim that having the seat 35cm off the road gives good feel.

She does that herself in the Scorpio ;)

In fact, she's a more lairy driver than I am, having learned in Canadian winters in a RWD MPV, rapidly followed by a 500ci engined Hearse.

She's just almost as bad a passenger as me.
