They actually wonderfully drivable, but very plastic inside as standard. Also, as standard they rev to silly revs, so you wouldn't like it.

Neither would you :) They are actually only not horrible to drive, unless you're absolutely flat out, balls to the wall. If you're just trying to tootle, you notice the interior and the utter lack of anything below 4k rpm :)

But above 4krpm they are quite amusing. Of course, having never actually lived with one, i don't know how long that stays fun for.

Ah when were discussing it on MSN and i said "They're surprisingly fast and quite fun" you didn't mention you weren't gonna cain it :) It'll piss you off if you pootle...

The engines were good, never used one in a Swift tho so I don't know what the rest of the cas was like.

Well had a look at it. Bit rusty in a few places, but I really like it. The ugly looks are growing on me more and more, and I love the interior. Will stick a low bid on it and see how it goes, but will continue looking for a later one

Yep. Positive. If they were RWD I would have one in an instant.

Some of them are definatly RWD as they are used in rallying. Also saw one at castle coombe a couple of months ago that was obliterating everything else!

They can make silly power from that little engine.

Do you get the parts for free? I maintain my own cars as well but found that with older cars I was always doing something. I got a newer car and realised I got to spend time doing stuff to it when I wanted to that actually made if faster.

Of course not, but I've never had a car that's needed fixing all the time (except that damn 205XS that's just been offered back to me!). And it's an old car most of the time you can bodge it back together and not worry!
