The most important things in a car.

I got so used to having cruise on my old chev, it was pretty much essential for long drives over there though. I swear if I had it fitted here i'd never be bothered to speed on the motorway again.

That's what I bought. :)

RWD, smart auto-box, V8 and great handling too...

In no particular order - Reliability, aircon, fun, manual 'box, resonable looks.

Personal use:

Stereo, sound of a V6/8, smell of leather.

Work use:

Stereo, cruise control.

A glovebox.

If I were stuck in a town, it'd be diseasel auto.

But I'm not, so it's go, handling, decent seats, radio I can manage without, aircon is lovely, but can manage without. No stupid exhaust is a big factor, I hate the bloody things. Same goes for holes in the exhaust.

"Differentness (uniqueness)" for me. Skoda Estelle, rear engined. Saab 900, quirky fast safe,and longditudinal engine in an FWD Celica, 4x4, popup lights, bombproof, reliable, devil horn wingmirrors, biggish bonnetscoop not on a Scooby, looks good still now at 15years old.

Reliability for me too. I don't mind tinkering/fettling to make up for wear and tear, if the underlying package isn't going to explode as soon as I give it some welly.

I'll go for value for money, diesel, decent amount of poke, aircon, esp/abs/tcs/airbags/everything, comfy seats, looks, decent handling in that order.

"value for money" and "diesel" are mutually exclusive at the moment, which is why I drive a Petrol car. As soon as 200bhp+ dervs are available for sensible money, then I shall get one.

Reliability is also a must have, but then it tends to come as standard on the newish, low mileage, warranty-equipped cars that I buy. If anything really expensive begins to die out of the warranty period, then I'll chop the car in against something else. I suppose it depends what you mean by "reliability". If something knackers, and costs me £200 to get fixed at the local garage, then that's fine as long as it's not happening every month. If it won't drive *at* *all* on a regular basis, then that's not fine. If something busts and costs me £500 to get fixed, then that's fine as long as it only ever happens once in my ownership.

Pretty much how I think of reliability. Never had anything yet totally fail/break, but had a few parts get=20 close. So they were replaced once. didn't do it again.

All my recent and current cars have been 4wd. But I miss tail sliding in the wet. : (

Mines lowered a bit and has had no problems. Body roll is non existant. It corners flatter than my GTR did.
