Well, fingers crossed job is a goodun.

I've actually been thinking of maybe goign into it as a business, maybe=20 starting mobile and doing evenings and weekends to start with. See if it=20 works out.

only needs a van, and a couple of grand for the start up machines and=20 testers etc.

BTW, Monday, filled it, worked great but only took 200-300grammes gas. Hmm, Tuesday on the way to work, sounded a bit gurgly. Tuesday coming=20 home, not working.

So Tuesday night, checked it. Nothing. Checked the can. Bugger. Most of=20 them have a siphon tube and say invert for gas. This one says invert for=20 gas. So Weight the cannister and realise I can have it on the scales=20 upside down. So it is "Time and guess" time. Fire it up, invert the can,=20 wait 30 seconds. Weight the can. This time it took the the approx full=20 R314 charge (R314 takes 70-80% of the gas to fill as R12) 600grammes=20 approx in. Still working like a loverly cold thing. And judging by the=20 way it keeps working. There can't be any additional moisture in side as=20 it hasn't iced and stopped the compressor. Compressor sounds a bit loud.=20 But if the system was oil less, it would have seized by now. Most of the=20 failed recharges I hear about are, fill, wait, holds charge, compressor=20 seizes an hour later, expensive compressor replaced. This has done=20 approx 8 hours on aircon and economy (switches off when temperature=20 reached and kicks back in when it rises). Still working fine. Guess I=20 got lucky. And the beauty is, even if someone attempted last time to=20 stick synthetic oil and R134a in and it leaked because the seals weren't=20 compatable, R314 is comprised partly of R134a, other bits and a=20 stabiliser, and is compatable with R12 and R134 systems, and both types=20 of oils, and R12 seals.

Yes, bigger molecules and all that.

I have tried to use ours for at least thirty minutes a week since we bought him. It's rare that I've not used it.

As for running it all of the time - I don't need to, and besides it leaches moisture from me and the leather interior.

I'm sure ours is warmer at the vent now than it was when new, although it's still "bloody cold." On a hot day it is noticeably colder when we're using air recirculation.

With the rain we've had recently, Charlie's default is to use the air conditioning to keep the windscreen clear of mist. Thus next morning if she didn't dry the system out, the windscreen typically mists up in the first few seconds.

I love our heated front windscreen. :)

Mine's on by default, whenever you start the engine.

I never bother turning it off - the "Auto" mode works just fine.
