Not really - the bike would hold such a huge advantage in drive out of the bend and down the straight bits that it would be well gone before you knew what was happening.

^^^^

This bit could be a problem. 0-60 doesn't tell the whole story, as a bike struggles to pull away as quickly as a car due to the rotational forces making it hard to keep the front end down, and lack of traction.

I suspect the real test would be 30-100 through the gears, and a 100bhp bike would trounce 99% of cars doing this.

As an aside, you're not likely to be building a twin-'busa engined Locost due to the horrific expense of doing so. This is if you knew anything about what you were doing, of course.

Fine with me - I prefer my toy to remove the possibility of me 'falling off', that's all ;-)

It's twin ZX12 actually - I know the owner.

The straights start earlier for the locost though - power down earlier. Bottle asides the fastest time over the lap is all that matters. And anyway, you haven't seen the track I'm talking about - it twists and turns like a twisty turny thing ;-)

Loch Lomond this weekend - you couldn't move for power rangers...

That's one of the 1% of cars that has a better power / weight ratio than a middleweight sportsbike. We can safely say that Steven won't be building one of those, though ;-)

Fantastic..... £6k worth of bike, or £250k worth (at least) of car.....

it has nothing to do with price, besides imo you get 41 times as much goods for your money,

It has a lot to do with price.... you can't go faster for £6k than you can on a Gixxer Thou. This is the important point that most people 'forget' when comparing car with bike performance.

Do it, you won't regret it. Forget the girlie 600 and get the full-fat

1200 model - you can rip up trees with the torque from that :-)

I know, my dad has borrowed one before and i've riden on the back with him. Big grins all round (although the first time he opened it right up, i almost fell off the back!). I was thinking of maybe starting with the 600 in a few years time (although the likelihood of me having any money in a few years time is probably quite slim :))

Hehe, pink would be more fitting :)

(A true ex-biker, I owned a bike as my first and only mode of transport, Zenith of my biking "career" ? An RC30, 14 days and written off ;)
