See if you can place some washers between the wastegate actuator and the mount to stretch the rod a little. If that helps it might be a stretched spring. Unfortunatley it may be soft and will just stretch again. Does the rod have a threaded adjustable part or is it just a fixed length? some adjust, some don't.

problem with ecotecs is, various Experts have endorsed them. And owners clubs have endorsed them. You would think middle aged Jag, Volvo, Saab and the like owners would be savvy enough.

And as it happens, Ecotecs do work on carbed engines and simple mechanical injection systems. It is only modern learning systems that recalculate the fueling on the fly that negate the action of leaning the mixture on cruise vacuum by re-applying fueling to the level it is programmed to think is correct. Biggest downside I see with ecotecs is, they quack like a demented duck.

It has a threaded bit was a nut on, apparently tightening said nut yields more boost, but there is some fear there heh :-)

If it is a Garrett blower, I think there should about 3mm stretch on the rod.

Remove the clips at the blower end of the rod. and see if it pulls back. The hole in the rod should be about 3mm to short from the pin and you need to pull it to stretch it fit. Don't twist the rod, you will tear the diaphram and f*ck the actuator.

If it is too slack, stick loads of WD40 on the nut and grip the rod firmly to stop it twisting when you slacken the nut.

the wind in (shorten the total length of the rod) threaded part until you can get the proper 3mm preload. Then nip the nut back up. Don't forget the refit any circlips and split pins that hold the rod onto the wastegate arm on the blower.

Modding roads - now there's a good idea. I've got some brilliant ideas for mods to some of the roads around here - the way the lanes/junctions are laid out in respect of the traffic flows using them is utterly appalling in many cases.

Have you tried modding the roads with an exhaust though?

Cheeky update. Decided to leave the big side mount. Figured that he'd still wanna change to GSi front bumper and FMIC like, next year, so it was just a waste of a wedge really. So the modding has been paused now till the de-cat and sports cat arrive, which we may or may not find depending on if we can scrounge up some ramps/if it's raining (none of us have a suitable garage for working in really - they're all a bit small.

I didn't do it personally, but my old Mk3 Astra done it for me. A lovely jolt it gave me too.
