Older 4-banger FWD Chevy's make great 4-dr. beaters, as do older 4-banger Escorts and Tauri. When I ran a CARFAX on mine, it came back with a frightening amount of info. It has changed ownership 7 times in 3 years, which ain't good. And after I began to repair all of the poor thing's problems, I found out why: it was a total basket case.
After $3,000 buck's worth of repair, it's turned out to be a dependable, economical 4-door beater car. I trust it enough to run Coast to Coast in the stupid thing. It looks like crap, and sounds like crap for that matter, but runs perfectly. It gets 35 mpg. too. And when the Mustang takes a dump, it's handy to have around.
