Bought a car!!!!!!

Well, today is the day I made my decision and I cam home with a car. I am the proud new owner of a white '01 GT. Its no mach 1 or cobra, but its pretty damn nice if I may say so myself. Its got longtubes, a prochamber, and flowmasters and thats all as far as I can tell. It is super clean inside and out, and has some unique stripes on the side from the previous owner. I also opted for the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty for added security. I don't plan on doing anything to this car except maybe a shifter and subframes. Its nice though, its got the mach

460, leather, etc..... I'll be sure to post some pics soon!! Erik D. '01 GT '94 white lightning

Awesome, Erik! Give us some info! Miles on it? How much ya steal it for? I'm assuming 5-speed since you mentioned shifter. Also, yes.. subframe connectors are one of the first mods I'd do for that car. Shifter or subframe connectors... hm... which first... neither, get 'em both ;). Then get some 3.73 gears in there!! Boy you'll be FLYIN!! Congrats on the new purchase, bud. Lets see some pics!!

I'm guessing with the longtubes he might also have a bigger throttle body. I agree, get the subs put on plus either 3.73's or 4.10's and he'll really see a difference in performance.

Congrats, Eric on your new ride.

Thanks, it puts a smile on my face. BTW, for all who suggested gears: I figured out it has them already cause the speedo is way off. Judging by how far its off and the ease of chirping 4th gear I would say its

4.10's. Nifty :) Erik D. '94 white lightning '01 white GT

In that case, get subframe connectors IMMEDIATELY.

Looks like it's in great shape. It all depends on what you want, more performance or better handling. I just read you think it already has 4.10 gears. The shifter would be on top of my list. Then shocks/springs. I have no experience with subframe connectors but you can see that other people like them. Enjoy your ride, and be careful when it's when/snowing. It is in great shape, i'll take more pics this weekend. The shifter and subframes are top on my list, but they are gonna hafta wait a while. Insurance is more than I thought it would be. BTW, can you please explain what you mean "be careful when it's when/snowing". I know what be careful when it's means, but I am a little confused by this word "snow". Erik D. The first thing I would do is look underneat it to see if it already HAS subframe connectors. Then if not, add them, then the shifter, of course, you may have different ideas.

Do yourself a favor when you get a sport shifter. Buy one of the gaskets to isolate the transmission noises. I drove around for about 6 months with a steeda shifter on my Cobra without the gasket and installed the gasket last week. The difference in noise coming into the car is huge. It never really bothered me, but it was definitely there. Since I installed the gasket it is about the same as it was with the stock shifter.

Woops, little typo. I meant be careful when wet/snowing. These cars loose rear traction REAL fast. Been there done that and did not see it coming at all.

LOL!! I knew what you meant, I was trying to make a joke because we never get snow here in south louisiana. As far as rain though, I am all too familiar as I made the mistake in my '93 lx and ended up slamming into a guardrail. I am thinking that i'll drive my truck when it rains because I am nervous about driving in a mustang in wet conditions as I and too many of my friends have wrecked one. Thanks for the advice about that and I will definitely look into the shifter gasket. Erik D. '94 white lightning '01 white GT

Personally, I'd go with the sub frame connectors first. I don't know what the hard tops are like but my convertible flexes way too much without them.

Glad to see you got another car. I think you're the guy that sold an older Mustang after having tons of transmission problems. I haven't been around much in a while so I might have you confused with somebody else.

Good luck and congrats,

Thanks. Yeah I got rid of a '93. It wasn't really the transmissions fault, it just couldn't support the power. I think I went through like

4 of them in a matter of 6 months. It was good practice though because I was getting good at rebuilding T5's. One day I pulled the T5, replaced third gear and the synchro assembly, and had it back in the car by lunch. Thats why I bought the 100K mile warranty on this one :) Erik D.
