Hi all! My wife's 98 Ford Mustang V6 has the check engine light on. On my jeep, if I turn the key on/off 3 times, it will trigger the diagnostics code and the check engine light will flash and give the trouble code that I can match to a list of trouble code descriptions, thereby saving me $80 of diagnostics fee. Is there such a feature on the stang? If not, is it most likely the O2 sensors? TIA. Fernan

Your 98 V6 isn't equipped with such a feature... obviously. Get the code read at Autozone for free. Post the code here or ask the Autozone guy what the code means. Don't assume it's O2 sensors or anything else.

Good luck with that CEL.. there are several of us in here with intermittent lights that are driving us flipping buggy! Please, when you DO find out post it for us :)

What code are you retrieving, Kate? Is it only ever a continuous code or can it be retrieved with a KOER test?
intermittent
Jim the code most of us are getting is P1443 Emissions Evaporative control valve system.

Hi Jim, To tell the truth, I have not had it checked. I have to drive nearly 100 miles to get to a dealership that I trust. I know I could have it checked at one of those Auto Zone type places, but have less than great faith in most of what I see locally by way of technicians.
When I do.. I'll holler, ok :)
