Headlight Replacements - 99 Mustang

Feb 04, 2004 9 Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have a 1999 Mustang GT and have headlights that are quite blistered and faded. I want to get aftermarket replacements but am not sure who carries the best prices. Any suggestions out there?

Also, I am wondering if there are HID kits that would work with the aftermarket headlight units? Although the existing HO bulbs are fine, I would like to have better visibility at night.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Dan

I got a set of the smoke (cobra style) thru these guys, to my door for my

2000 GT for $140. Look thru their stuff then call their 800 # with the item number, seems you get a better deal via phone rather than their net prices. I've only ordered from them once but I hafta admit they have good prices & the headlights fit perfect!!!!! Good luck Kelly

If by existing HO bulbs you mean over wattage, that's probably what caused your blistering problem in the first place; you melted the lamp. :\

Any HID "kits" that aren't crap are probably illegal for retrofit into a vehicle not so equipped OEM. Probably the best you're going get with a late-model Mustang is to stick with stock replacement lenses (maybe the cobra lamp assembly, if they're any different on the 99+?) and Sylvania XtraVision bulbs in the stock wattage.

Lots more info on HID and all things automotive lighting, take a look at Dan Stern's website:

I don't like that site. I chose "FORD" and "1998" on the first page.. then "MUSTANG" on the 2nd page... and it showed me a picture of the 99-04 body style..... and since the car is a/b auto body parts.. and it's showing me the wrong picture.. I just don't trust it anymore :P.

lol Kelly... no worries. I was just stating that I found a bug which makes me a liiiittle skeptical that if I were to order I'd get the right parts or not... u know how it is.. anyway.. take it easy ;D
