I'm cruising tonight!

Just installed the new light set from Mustangs Unlimited (stock version, naturally).

Before and after shots, showing the original glaucoma and then after the corneal transplant.

All six lenses were swapped out.

TFrog looks a damn sight better, and I'll find out tonight whether it "sees" better, too. I'm a little worried about the headlight alignment, since a true idiot did the installation.

I don't know how you guys do it. A simple chore like this, and my fingers are raw, my right wrist is scraped from trying to loosen/tighten nuts in confined spaces, and I couldn't even get to the final nut to tighten it up more than finger tight. (It's going in for inspection this month, and I'll have to ask the mechanic to check it out for me.)

But, at least I've got shiny new lights, and a couple more tools to add to my toolbox. Lost only one bulb in the process, easily replaced, so I consider myself lucky.

I'm going to take a nap now.

Hope you don't have sniper lights..

Ah, the joys of old age. Fun, isn't it?

dwight, did you go with stock bulbs or something else?

Sweet dreams, laddie. From one old man to another..

Got me. It's a little weird. Plenty of light, aimed a little lower than I'd like, and in a funny pattern. The center of the road is well lit, and there's a splash of light to both left and right that I don't remember. It's great, and I ain't complainin', it just looks strange.

Of course, I've been driving TFrog at night with greatly reduced lighting, so I just may not be used to what "should" be.

You know what's great about old age? Now, when I totally screw something up, I can more easily afford to pay someone else to clean up the mess.

Stock (you know me). If I wasn't pleased with the results last night, I'd have considered something else. As it is, those naturally amber 3157s are way cool.

Or did you mean the headlights...?

My MUSTANG twins, ya perv. I've got the week off, Jean's out of town, so I'm detailing, fixing little things, and doing a painful amount of polishing and waxing.

Feel the burn.

I remember when I got the LX back from the front end repair the light pattern was altogether different. I think it's got to do with the reflectors inside the headlamps. No two are alike or something. Just a guess..

Brighter is better.

Getting older doesn't necessarily mean having more disposable income. We _hope_ it does, but alas it sometimes doesn't. My son's private high school tuition (let alone college) is killing me.

Yes, I'm talking about the headlight bulbs. Apparently there are some decent upgrades (not those blue pieces of shit, either) that can help.

Now hold on - _you're_ the perv thinking I meant that. The sweet dreams was for your nap; I know the twins are you Mustangs.

Hey, you're lucky you can even take a nap. If I did that, I'd sleep right through to the next day.

if you want to aim them yourself.

Sylvania XtraVision in the purple and black package is about the best bulb you can get easily within the US.

I am absolutely pleased with this outcome, after driving last night on a mix of highway and VERY dark back roads.

I have to give thanks to

for walking me through the entire process before I began, if only so that I had the correct tools for the job. (They talk about upgrading their halogen bulbs, but they also did the lens swap with smoked lenses.) For now, the stock halogens are fine. The time I SHOULD have thought about upgrading my lighting was when I had dull, yellowed, encrusted headlight lenses that put out perhaps 30% of available light. Right now, I'm loving life with the new lenses. This is the single best thing I've done for this car in years, and I kick myself for not having done it sooner.

I think I should order in another set for 2014.
