Right... I know, there are other things out there I like, too. It would be fun, no doubt, anything with 520 hp is going to be fun (even a tank). I just don't like Porsches. Nope. I would have like to have owned stock in Porsche AG when it split 10:1 a while back.
My ugly Tempo is a POS that keeps fixed costs low, and is therefore beautiful. If it is destroyed, it's a big inconvenience, and not a tragedy (unless I get mangled).
Sure, I want 20 cars in a heated garage... talking German cars, an E500 Mercedes would be cool... or an M5 BMW... but 'taint the case I can get even one of what I'd want. Ya makes yer choices... and for me, it's almost 200 credit hours of higher education, fixing up an old Mustang year after year until it is "done", and driving old hunks like my Tempo, keeping the end goal in mind. And that end goal is a tinkertoy classic car that will be frighteningly powerful and cheap and easy to maintain. Oh - and widely considered to be more attractive than 99% of vehicles currently on the streets people pay $500 / mo. to "own". I keep eyeballing that 460 SVO engine... 550 hp... I'd need a cage with harnesses, and a big fuel cell =)
