Local Ford dealers are idiots (Toronto)

Until you actually start asking questions, you have NO idea how stupid some of these sales people are. They have maybe 20 vehicles to sell. Can't they learn the specs (even basic ones?) of those 20, instead of running around, trying to refer to books they often don't have? One dealer, didn't know, had no colour charts for Mustangs, no pictures/specs for wheel options available. So of the internet we go, because they aren't able to jump online quickly at the dealership!! One tried to tell me 16" wheels are standard on a new GT!!!

A lot of that stuff is in the brochure. They didn't have them?

Car sales people are high turn over. You can visit a year later and they're all different!. John

I inquired about a Cobra at a nearby dealer. It turns out that they are not a SVT dealer. The salesman told me. sure I can sell you a GT Cobra. After saying I don't want a GT, he admitted they can't sell teh Cobra. Why lie to me in teh first place. He thinks I'm an idiot obviously. Well, they won't get my business next time.

It isn't just the Ford salespeople. Walk into any dealership and you'll find the vast majority are just "product sellers". I wouldn't be surprised to find out that some sold shoes, electronic gear, vacuums, or other stuff just before they got their current car-selling gig. Patrick '93 Cobra

The girl that sold me my car was a receptionist for a talent scout two weeks before I met her. I was her first sale. Now *that* was fun :)

Did she do the sale all by herself? or did another guy, the closer' come in to finalize the deal?

She was doing pretty good but had to do a lot of running back to the 'sales manager'. You know the game. But in the end I was happy with the final price.

She made a few mistakes. I refused one car due to nuimerous defects in the paint and we almost got creamed in a parkinglot on the way back from getting the tank filled (but before I handed them the cheque).

I do, very well. Trie dmy hand at it but coudl not deal with the lying and cheating game. Yeah, the lots of running back means the sales manager was actually controlling the deal, not her. But as long as you are happy with the price... And you probably got a better deal than if you had dealt with the sales manager directly...

OMG! I dunno about Canadian law but down here in Fla the car is not legally yours until you've driven it of the lot. Even if you already paid for it. A point car dealers are very reluctant to admit. :-)
