What does it take

What does it take to get to see real time data on what my computer is seeing? Let's say the coolant temp sensor, or stuff like that. What ever the computer sees I want to see.

What is it called and how much moolah. Can you data log this info?

thanks,

John

A year would make this so much easier...... some OBD1s had live data stream..... OBD2 has what they call PID monitors..... You can start with

I read about some guys w/ 03 Cobras doing it testing a newer cooler, reading real time temps on the odometer/trip meter display, not sure if it was part of the chip programming or what. I can look, sorry not too much help but I know it can be done. JDM and some guys are doin it. FYI

Actually, there is a post on The Mach1 Registry about this, you can make your digital odometer read many critical stats. Let me see if I can find this info, please stand by...

I have an Autotap that I use with my laptop. It can monitor all vital functions.

Just went and tried that dealership diagnostic trick with my Stang. Pretty cool! Too bad it doesn't stay in the diag mode after shutting the car off. But it does give me something else to look at for the short jaunt to work and back. Will try it out tomorrow.

TwEECer R/T is another option. tweecer.com

That's pretty expensive and a lot more than a monitor and it's only for the EEC computers. He didn't say what car, if it's an OBD2 then here is one a friend of mine has and I used it on my Murano for a week or so...
