280ZX tips ??

I need a couple of tecnical tips, ( as I can't find it in the Haynes manual ) ...actually...is the Nissan workshop ( service ) manual ... any better ??

Anyway, I'm having an intermittant problem with the passenger window winding down...mainly when operated from the driver's side master switch... so i want to get into it to have a look if there's anything that looks obviously wrong with the switch or mechanism... My question is...How do i access that master switch ?

Does it have some special way of just popping it out of the door trim...or do i need to remove that whole door trim...then just get to the switch from the back ?

I'm always a bit cautious when trying to remove trim parts...since they are all in mint condition...and also very brittle and fragile too..

P.S. still need a cap for my washer fluid bottle ... even went out to "Z Spares" ( Melb, Aust. ), but it seems they closed up shop...and only the repair / service workshop is operating now ! ... So they've probably got the bits I need...but they don't know where to find them..or how much to charge either :(

Cheers,

Brian Canham

Haynes manual is a joke. It's OK if you don't have anything else but assumes you're an idiot and leaves out lots of important information.

I'm pretty sure that switch is attached to the door itself, I think you have to remove the door pannel to get to it.

hmmm...though I'm no idiot...I do have a fairly limited knowledge of mechanicals...but i have found the Haynes manual to be a bit vague...and can't find a heap of things in there that I've needed to know... Might get a hold of the Nissan service manual...

Exactly, they don't want to tell you too much and many times they give totally BS information. Like it tells you to remove the rocker arms on a

300ZX before you remove the T-belt. It will take longer to get the rockers off than it takes to do the belt and it totally unnecessary!

I'd suggest it.

The folks at the Internet Z car Club might be helpful as well.

I've been out my 280zx a little too long to answer the door question

100%. The door panel should be held on the door by clips you pry open via a flat screwdriver. As for the switch its self? Try some contact cleaner spray and see if that helps.
