Aloha:



I just bought a 200 dollar beach car...basically a rust bucket(1984 Nissan



300ZX.). Don't ask me why, like I don't have enough projects already.

Anyway I told my husband I was going to restore it without his help. This is where you guys come in. HELP!



First problem, the clutch is slipping. I don't think it will make it up the hill where I live. My question is, should I replace the clutch or get a new transmission?



Second question: I was told that a timing belt plays a very important role in the operation of a car. Should I have a new one put in, or can I do it myself?



For all you folks who don't live in Hawaii, the whether is beautiful.

You could try adjusting the clutch pedal so more of the pedal shaft goes into the clutch master cylinder. I have a 1995 300zx, sometimes this works because it makes the clutch disk slam down against the flywheel harder. Eventually you will need to replace the clutch, with a few hours, a lot of cussing and a lil elbow grease, it sohuldnt be to hard as it is all common sense.

Timing belt, no idea. All i can really tell you is that if you have a manual and it tells you how to do it, and u feel confident, try it. Worst comes to worst and it messes up a lil, you can always have soemone do it for you. If it doesnt mess up, the satisfaction level will be worth al the hassle.
