I finally found the time to drop in the '80 engine in my '83 ZX. I drilled & tapped the thermostat housing for the temp sensor from the side of the head (the '83 was located there), & also found that the lower radiator hose inlet housing was different. The hose wouldn't match up to it so I checked the one on the original engine & it comes out at a different angle
- I swapped it out so the car would still use the original '83 hose. I was also able to unwrap the wiring for the temp sensor & re-route it to the new location without splicing any wires - very pleased with that. In addition, the '83 lower braces from the bellhousing to the block could not be used 'cause the '80 block was not made for them: hope this is not a problem. Just thought this info might prove useful for someone. The car is running good, except for a bad hesitation off idle - especially when cold. Didn't have that before & I'm wondering if sitting for several months has anything to do with it.... Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
