I paid $300 over the invoice price, and have never been able to produce a steering problem.
I was able to take the carmax price into my local Nissan dealer that I wanted to buy from, and negotiate down from there. I got it for 600.00 UNDER what the Carmax price was. Go to Edmunds and get advice on negotiating. Just remember, there will always be a dealer who will want to deal, if yours doesn't. Just be prepared to walk--gets them every time.
