Air flow problem

Aug 17, 2004 2 Replies

I have a 98 Pathfinder and I'm having a problem controlling the air flow inside the car. No matter what setting I chose most of the air comes out of the upper vent. The fan is working fine, my problem is that I cannot get too much air to come through the lower vent or defroster ducts.

I have traced the dial down to a cable but I cannot find where it's going. I'm suspecting the problem is with some valve or vacuum switch within the ducts but I don't know where they're located.

If anyone has any ideas where it's located I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Mike.

Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak. You'll need some way to draw a vacuum then measure to see if it holds.

I think it's a manual switch/dial opposed to a button. I know the older versions have vacuums. When I turn the dial I can almost feel valves moving.
