Each time I set the Cruise Control on my nissan altima it seems as if its going to work, like keeps pace for 1 sec, then dies. ANy ideas.....my guess is wiring? but where

Hiyas :),

How fast were you going when you tried to engage it ? On mine, you have to be going at least 35 mph in order for it to work.

Well Iam not sure how your cruise control was designed but it is possible that you have any of the following problems......

1) A vacuum leak or lines - may be leaking so that pressure sensitive sensors are not working correctly.

2) Bad wiring or some sort of electrical problem

3) Faulty sensors which may be as simple as controls that have dirt in them

My advice is to get a Hayne's manual and look for the circuit in there. Many libraries have copies that you can check out or if you want to buy one ( worth MANY times over its asking price of 20 dollars or so [ mines worth about 5 thousand dollars :D ] ) you can get one at a parts store.

If you can get that information it will be much easier for someone to help you.

:)

Actually the wiring is probably the least likely culprit (people seem to hope it's a "loose wire" as that sounds cheap to fix?) More likely is a vacumm leak or one of the plastic pedal stop(s) for the switch(s) is missing.
