TITAN

I have an interest in cars and trucks, so I recently stopped, at my local Nissan dealer, and looked at the new Nissan Titan full-sized truck.

I was not impressed. The first thing I immediately observed was the half-chrome, and half-painted front bumper.

I kept thinking, "What was going through the stylists' brains." One idea did keenly stick in my mind. Nissan's accounting department must have informed the styling department, " We can't afford to have a complete chrome bumper, so we'll have just part of the bumper chrome and other other part painted." "We know it will look like hell, but we just can't afford to spend the money for a full, chrome bumper."

At least from my perspective, in the styling department, the truck is not in the same league as its American counterparts.

So don't buy one.

To some of us, Nissan is on a roll with there new styling and ideas. Not all of us want a truck that looks like a trailer thrash, some of us want style and sophisticate.

You should probably be looking at the Fodge Ram50s.

Thanks Nisan engineers for stepping out of the box.

Just think of what the side view of that truck would look like if they extended the chrome on that massive bumper around to the wheel wells. It would be about 3/5s as high as the total fender height.

Where did you find the Titan? I want to test drive one. My dealer says they won't be available until December.

I agree. I saw it at the Detroit Auto Show in January, and I thought they had done a great job on the styling. Turns out the pricing is good, too.

I'd rather push my Nissan than drive another pile o' cr*p Domestic from a company that doesn't care about the customer.

If I were gonna buy a vehicle based totally on styling and never even think about the engineering and reliability of it, I would be driving a Dodge. But that's me. The go matters more than the show.

My understanding of the new Titan is it's supposed to be pretty hefty under the hood. That combined with Nissan's reliability stats should make anyone's head turn no matter what the bumper looks like.

Come on 4 and 1/2 TONS of towing capacity?!?! Out of a 5.6 liter DOHC V8? Check out the specs at

Even my die-hard Chevy lovin' brother admitted he was impressed with the stats on the Titan.

Odd, I recently saw and drove a Titan and was overwhelmed. While the front grill treatment is my least favorite styling feature of the truck... I think overall, the truck is very attractive. Beefy and intimidating are the words that come to mind when I looked at it... then I drove it... Beefy and intimidating really came to mind then!

305 HP and 389 ft/lbs of torque! It's quiet, agile, and runs like a cheetah on steroids! Add the Nissan reliability factor and hey, it's one impressive vehicle... even with the funny grill. Come December 1 when they go on sale, I'll probably be owning one.
