tranny issues

I have a 1992 nissan nx 1.6 a little over 210 000 kms, i bought the car about 7 months ago, the owner told me there was a problem with the transmission but only when the car switches to 5th gear the car i have is an automatic, when it switches to the 5th gear it starts jerking but if you put the car in neutral for a second and put it in drive the car will go back to the same rpm's and just go from where it left off. i dont know if i need to replace the whole tranny or maybe a sensor or a small part. please leave soome advice or something to help me out i am ready to fix the issue now, a couple people told em to get a new car but ive love cars design alot. Thanks!!!Very apreciated!! :)

I have a '92 NX2000 (2.0L) and it only came with a 4 speed...I'm quite sure NXes only came with 4 speed automatic transmissions.

Does it still happen when you turn off O/D (press the button on the gearshift lever that lights the "O/D off" light? All this does is make it a

3 speed transmission, locking out the 4th gear. With the lock-up torque converter, it may seem like it has 5 gears, but I'm quite sure there is only
  1. My trans was rebuilt at 100,000kms (free from Nissan) and then at 220,000 kms (00 3+ years ago)...so you might be in for a bill...but it could be something as simple as a slipping band of the transmission. These trannys are fairly high tech, so get a good transmission shop to give an estimate, but at this many km's, I think you may be in for a rebuild.
