Is a Nissian 2001 extera a good used vehicle? Are they maintenance free? Decent on gas?

Decent on gas ? Depends on your definition. 19 highway/15 city in 2 WD. Mine was virtually maintenance free until the powertrin warranty ran out. Blew a head gasket @ 35k. There were 3 recalls that the dealer took care of also.
Nothing is maintenance free, unless you decide you're going to skip oil changes and other assorted fluid checks and lubes, new tires, etc.
What about those timing belts? How often do they need replaced and is this a big expense?
105,000 miles. Probably about $250 to $400 to replace.
