87 Maxima Electricals Dead

Sep 28, 2005 2 Replies

I have an 87 Maxima that has no electrical power to any system in the car. This happened right after I was trying to jump the battery. Before that there was some power to all the systems - accessories, engine etc. The fusible links check out OK. Any ideas?

TIA

Some additional clarification. Before the jump the battery voltage was 9 V and could run the radio, gauges and inter lights. After trying to jump the battery voltage was 11V but all electricals dead - no radio gauges, inter lights and of course no starter.

there is a little black box on the left inner fender just in front of the air box that has I think 4 connectors. Remove the cover. (it just snaps on) The one on the front has a gray top with a wire that comes out of it and goes back into it. Sort of looks like a jumper wire. The same thing happend to my 1987 Maxima and all it was, is the wire on that connector was burned into and it wasn't getting any power to the interior lights or dash lights. Once I fixed the problem, my interior lights and dash lights began working. As far as the starter problem goes, check your relays in the box in front of the battery. I believe it has a starter relay in it and it could have gone bad causing the starter not to work.
