89' Nissan Maxima 3.0 liter V6

My 89 nissan maxima will not budge for bout a minute. I put it into drive but it stays at 0 and the rpm goes up for bout a minute. In that minute i keep tapping the accelerator many times and finally the car will reach 25 mph. after it reaches 25 mph the car runs fine. I think it might be a solenoid control valve or a vaccum module problem. I looked it up and we have an upshift acceleration problen on my 89 maxima. This is a common problem i've seen on the internet with all maximas and it would help out many maxima owners if someone would give me back clearcut info on what to exactly do next with my 89 nissan maxima car.(P.S. I'm not willing to sell the car though.)

Have you checked the fluid level in the Transmission?

As the others said, it could be a low fluid problem. Or, it could be a bad transmission controller not signalling the solenoid to shift into drive, or into 1st gear as it's supposed to do. My 90 does that in the morning- it hesitates a few seconds before it drops into 1st. My rebuilder said this has been known to happen and the tranny controller unit may not store a fault code indicating a problem. But I don't think you should be revving it up or trying drive it until it drops into 1st gear properly.

Before any more blind diagnosing from me, tho, you should definitely check the fluid today!
