93 Maxima- Meter Fuse Problem

Oct 07, 2004 5 Replies

I noticed that all my dash gauges were not working, and narrowed it down to my Meter fuse. Well when replaced with every start-up it would blow. When this occured I was also unable to get my car into gear unless I used the gear shift key. I don't know what is going on with it.

you have a short to ground somewhere that needs to found and fixed to stop it from blowing the fuse

So there couldn't be anything wrong with the transmission, because the gears would feel as if they were not shifting all the time.

Now instead of the fuse blowing when you start up the car, it only does it when the car is put in reverse. You can switch between gears, but as soon as you land on reverse the fuse will blow.

We have tried everything trying to replace some electrical component in the transmission to taking out the gear shift looking at it no change.

So now I am at a loss and wondering if it would just be okay to drive w/o the finding the problem.

Have you looked into the backup lights circuit?
