Bad engine mount in 05 Maxima?

Apr 11, 2006 2 Replies

My 05 Maxima SE (25,000 miles) , when hot, sometimes sounds like a rough diesel at idle and row RPMs.

A dealership mechanic finally heard the sound (I happened to be near the dealership when the problem re-occured) and said it could be a bad engine mount.

How serious of a problem could that be ? It has been doing that for several months (dealership was never able to confirm it before today), any chance that some damage has occured?

Thanks a lot!

... sounds like a rough diesel... - ...a bad engine mount. If bad engine mount, damage can be seen, mechanical prbl is constant, doesnt vary. Demand that mounts are checked, if problems then swapped...

My guess is: Nobel laureate candidate at your stealer$hip posing as mech (typical).

I quess theres still (?) warranty: demand correction. Record every detail what has happened for future use. 'Dieseling': engine ctrl, ign, valve systems...

What does self diagnostics say?

In the past, the dealership could not find any problem (there are no error codes) and could not reproduce the vibration. So they 'reprogrammed the idle'--whatever that means.

This time they got to hear it-so the mechanic said 'probably bad mount.' I'm taking the car in today, I'll see what they find.

Thanks!
