Partial Moonroof disassembly 96 Maxima GLE

Dec 15, 2004 2 Replies

I have no idea how, but the rear passenger corner of my power roof has somehow gotten itself punched downwards about 1/4-1/2 inch rendering it non-workable. The motor works fine, it just dosn't move it anywhere. I don't know how many roofs were available for this model but mine has the tilt-up rear and slide back options, I suppose its the moonroof model.

Wintertime is when I use the roof most so now I am thinking about looking at it. I just wondered if anyone had any tips or warnings about working on it. I do have a Chilton's but first hand advice is always the best info for me.

I was thinking I would somehow wedge it back into position with a safely positioned bottle jack and extension, once I found the sweet point to position the force.

I won't be doing this for a few days but just thought I'd get this posted ahead of time.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks John,

Yeah, I was looking at it yesterday, that and reading the Chiltons about it. It dosn't look at all simple to dismantle even a little bit. Also, it says to even start the dismantle process you need to raise the rear; well, my problem prevents that from happening. I'm just going to ponder this awhile and hope for some inspiration. Again, maybe I can just 'push it back up' using the bottle jack and slow pressure at the right spot from the inside, without dismantling much, or any of it.
