Thoughts on 2003 TI model?

Hi All,

I'm considering purchasing a 2003 Maxima with 38,000 KM on the clock. It is the fully optioned TI model here in Australia.

What are your thoughts on the reliablilty of these cars?

What sort of KM are people getting out of the engine? - I will do around

600km of travelling per week.

Many thanks in advance.

I've just realised that this model was sold in the USA as Infiniti 130

That may help to compare.

Like most Nissans, it will run forever, but you'll have minor issues with the comfort and convenience parts of the car. The Bose systems are famous for having the speakers/amps fail. The window reg units will fail, but are not expensive or difficult to replace. Many older Maximas had antennas that failed. Not the motor, but the plastic gear that made it go up and down. Again, an annoyance rather than a problem, but also cheap and easy to fix.

Nissans engines are among the best in the world. Especially their V6's.

Most Nissans, when taken proper care of, will get you 300K kilometers or more. I have almost 300K kilometers on my car, and expect another 100K for sure. And I know there are others here with many more miles, errr ... kilometers, on their cars.

I'm looking at replacing mine, but out of need, rather than because of the car itself. Besides every day usage, I'll be driving 500+ KM every 3-4 weeks to visit an ailing family member, and will need something a little more dependable. I don't want to get stuck in the northern U.S. in mid-winter because my "old" car has broken down. I'm hoping I'll have the garage space to keep both the new and old cars.
