What tires?

Hi, I have a 2002 SE 6 speed with 60,000 miles. IT looks like I have worn out my 2nd set of tires. The car handled like crap in the snow but I don't want to by dedicated snow tires. I like the sporty feel of the car. What is a good tire choice that balances traction, wear and performance. If I had to compromise the order above is most important: traction, wear, performance. believee or not cost is important, but not as important as those other things. thanks

For lo, SwampYankee hath proclaimed:

I'm running Dunlop SP Sport Signatures on my non-touring '00 I30 in 215/55VR16. They're good, not great, in light snow, very good in the wet, and grip is substantial: you really have to work to make them break loose. They do, however, seem to require rebalancing once a year or so.

I'm on my 3rd set of Michelins with my 2000 Maxima with 167K. The originals lasted 17K, the first replacement set lasted 22K, and the Michelins always last at least 55K.

However, living in Texas, I experience no snow...ice once in a while and rain, of course. I am now running the Primacy by Michelin. Love 'em.
