That is a classical answer, coming from a dealer - you could have had the same with T16s :-) Well, could you try with speeds for 1,000 RPM ? Unfortunately, I doubt there was a Haynes covering x4 series. I got no book reference for x4s. You *may* find this by trying to get in touch with Dangel - although I think the x4s were developped directly by Peugeot, and not by Dangel, else there may be a "4x4 Dangel" plate somewhere on the car. Snip. Diff ratios might be written somewhere into the books. My mum's got a '88 405, but I can't help you as the x4 series were released far later ('91, IIRC).
