2005 Sunfire Problems

This car only has 30k on it. Check engine light is on. Has a hesitation on acceleration. It's a 2.2 ecotech, auto trans. Any ideas on the problem? Thank you!!

I agree. However, if it were something simple, I would do it myself instead of having the car in the shop over the holiday.

Well, I don't have an answer for you, but I find this post amusing, since I bought a *1991* Grand Prix used, and the "Check Engine" light as well as the fule and water lights come on and stay on regularly. When I did some research in this newsgroup and on MSN Carpoint, I find that it's a "known bug"...and 14 years later, Pontiac still hasn't fixed it!

autozone will read the codes for free for you then that should point you to the fix. or even simpler...disconnect your positive battery cable for 2 minutes then re-attach. this resets the computer and the light will go out. i would do this first then if it comes on again go to auto zone they will read the codes for free.

Well guys, you might not believe this, but the problem went away the next day!! The check engine light is off, and the acceleration is fine. All appears to be ok!! Thank you all for your input!!

I have a 2000 Sunfire. Had a similar problem around the same miles. Replaced the spark plugs. That did nothing. Then I checked the wires in the dark and saw arcs all over the place. Replaced the wires, light went off and problem went away. Might be worth a try.
