86 trans am rim

just bought this. Had new tires put on 235/60-16's. The rim is hitting the tie rod when you turn the steering wheel and makes you drive it like a semi in turns. Rims seem original equip. Told tires were wrong size. Should be 225/50-16. Looked at other factory sites. 14's. What would cause the rim to hit the tie rod, mostly on the passenger side when turning right? Told that the tires are three inches to high. Would this offset the rim?

The 16" rims there are front and rears. It sounds like somebody put them on backwards. If you look at the rims you should find "Front" and "Rear" cast into them. Standard rims were 15"x7" with 16"x8" as optional in 1986.

.. And didn't the 16" wheels take 245/50-16 tires? ''87 and up did.
