Airco Pontiac Trans Sport '96

Jul 19, 2003 2 Replies

Just bought a '96 Pontiac Trans Sport 2.3 Quad.

Love the car but now it seems that the airco does not work. Is ther anyone who knows this problem? When I push the A/C button the light in the button itself is burning, but that is the only thing that is happening.

No compressor starting, no difference in the rotations and... no cold air.

Formiliar problem? Or maybe an empty system??

Help! (just with these temperatures, even in Holland!)

John

As far as I know the Trans Sport for the European market is deliverable with either a 3.8 V6 or the 2.3 Quad. Both running on unleaded fuel.

But correct me if I am wrong; I am just newe in the world of Pontiac :-) Even in the owners manual there is only written about these 2 engine types.

And Tim: thanks for answering my question about removing the radio, but does the airco problem ring any bells to you???

Since you have the radio trim panel off, check to see if you have voltage going to and leaving the switch. If you do, then unfortunately you might have to take it to a shop to have the system looked at. The most common reason for the A/C not working is that it is low on freon. However, that usually means that there is a leak somewhere.
