I have no interest in "preaching" to them. In my view anyone has the right to purchase any vehicle they like and can afford, whether I like what they drive or not. You want a Prius, go knock yourself out. Ditto if you want an Escalade. It's all a matter of individual choice. Neither you nor I have to approve anyone else's choices. (I might poke fun at someone's choices and motivations but in the end it is their choice to make.)

It dawned on me today what really bugs me about Prisus, it's not the cars (although I'm no Toyota fan), and it's not the technology, I'm a geek and find technology fascinating, what really bugs me about Prisus is the smug, self righteous attitude of so many of the people that own them.
If I was going to buy a hybrid I'd buy a Civic or even better an Escape.

I'm just hitting reply. I AM interested in them, the technology is fascinating and I've enjoyed discussing it. I've also learned more about the cars.
I shouldn't have made that comment about smug self righteousness, it really doesn't contribute to the discussion and gives offense when it was not necessary to be offensive... this isn't an excuse but I think it was triggered by an earlier part of this thread where we really were having an interesting discussion and then a couple of posters turned it into a flame war. (or at least a flame skirmish!).
Whatever the reason I apologize for being offensive.
I'd still rather have an Escape though, it's a bigger vehicle, the station wagon type body is more practical for me... and frankly I'd rather have a Ford than an Toyota.
What do you think of the plug in version of the Prius that Toyota is currently testing?
