95 900 se turbo coupe five speed....timing belt question

Nov 24, 2006 3 Replies

i called saab for my timing belt change at 93k, and the technician told me my car doesn't have a timing belt!?! is this true??

If it's a 4 cyl, he is correct.

If you have not done so, you should replace the serpentine belt and upper idler pulley every 50K or so. The idler pulleys are known to go without warning. Also keep your eye on the clutch cable - they are good for about 50K too.

As far as I know, it has a timing chain. You don't ant to mess around with that, unless u really need to.

What you need to change is the serpentine belt and it's recommended to change the tensioner pulley at the same time. I do mine every 100k.

Hope this helps, Ben
