Buying a new car, well not new, need help.....

I am buying a 89 saab s9000 has about 150,000 miles on it or so. Is this good for this age of vehicle? Also.. the seller says he has issues with the car when he tries to turn the ignition switch he has to turn the steering wheel a little to get it to start, he has a father in law who is a mechanic says it sounds like a loose wire in the steering column. Has anyone had this problem or know the fix for it? Also, What type of maintenance should be done a vehicle this old? The only other issue the seller said he has is when he is driving sometimes the brake light comes on. He has put news brakes on the car and knows it isnt the brakes, it stops fine, doesnt screech or anything when it stops but he read the manual and it says that a switch may need to be replaced? Has anyone also had this problem? Give me a heads up let me know if the car is worth it. Thanks alot for your help!

you might want to let newsgroup know price being asked for. If you are not mechanicaly inclined you might want to check around and make sure there is a local repair shop that can do repairs for you. as far as if the car is worth it I will let others voice their opinions. I have a 85 900s and it is my every day car. yes it brakes down once in awhile so far the repairs for me have been reasonable.

Unless you've got a known service history on it, recommend change all fluids and filters asap when you get it and probably plug leads too.

Somewhere in the dim and distant past, I remember one of my 900s occasionally having a brake warning light come on. Brakes and fluid level ok. It went away when we changed the brake fluid and gave the cap and reservoir a very good clean. Mightn't be the same prob but worth a look. Cheers
