Cabin filter

I am enjoying a 2000 Aero sedan. at 100k + miles it stll performs lile a Saab.

I have seen a reference somewhere to a cabin air filter. My understanding is that this is a component of the cabin HVAC system. does such a thing exist and, if so, where is it and how is it accessed.

How frequently should this be changed. Thanks to all,

Malcolm

The Cabin air filter i located in the "aquarium". In the engine-compartment, towards the passenger-cabin, just beneath the windshield. You'll have to remove the plastic-cover to access it.

Should be changed every 30 - 40.000 miles. And it's an easy DIY-job.

Cheers!

Yep. Did that on my 2001 9-3 last weekend. It's a bit annoying because you have to take the wipers off. Once you've taken off the outer cover, there's a drip-tray over the filter itself. All the spare space is taken up by dead leaves. The manual isn't clear if these can be re-used or whether they have to be replaced.

Cheers,

Colin.

This is good advice- At my last service on my 19999-3 the dealer changed mine and charged me over EURO 70 for parts and labour. I had told him the cabin often got too warm. I didn't think a filter would be that expensive!
