Electric Seats Stopped Working

I have a 97 900SE Turbo Cabriolet with electric seat controls.

First, the passenger seat stopped working. A week later, the driver's seat stopped working.

Both fuses appear to be OK.

Any ideas?

Can be the relais (contacts on the dash) - do they click, when you push/move them? Or it can the the wires in the heating-blanckets that have broken. Remember never to reach into the car with a knee resting on the seats.

Cheers!

I've got the same model and had the same problem; it turns out that the relay box under the left seat (at least for LHD; I don't recall if it's under the right seat for RHD vehicles) has a known habit of working loose. Power for both seats goes through this box, so when it's loose both seats will die. Reseating the relay box fixed the problem.

Of course, there could be a totally different cause of the failure, but that's what worked in my case.

Very common problem.

Thanks for the tips. You were right.

In my case, BOTH relays had fallen out. Boy was it a nightmare getting them back in! I had to remove the driver's seat from the car. The relays are in a location that is impossible to get to without removing the seat memory module once the seat is completely out of the car. Removing the seat memory module is a chore in of itself.

All tolled, I spent about 4 hours on this today!
