I'm about to install a CD changer in the boot area of my 9000cde saloon. its a RHD. Does anyone on this forum's vast knowledge base have any previous experiance's, if so, what is the best way to route the cables, best location in the boot etc ? I dont want to repeat others mistakes etc.

I do not know what year it is, but I have done this in a '95, '96 and '97 CSE (hatch). There are a number of Clarion changers which are 'plug and play', requiring that you only find the cable end in the boot area (the CSE is in the left rear fender (wing?) and that is where you mount the changer), plug it in and secure the changer. This means no power line running and no putting up with poor sound when using a changer that broadcasts on an FM frequency, etc.
The EPC is not clear, but my '97 9000 sales brochure claims that all
9000s are wired for a changer. The cable is a large one (~3/16" diameter) with a high density of pins (maybe 15?) In a CDE, the best location may be under the rear deck where the speakers are mounted.HTH

It a 94 was thinking about installing a blaupunkt DX-R52 sat-nav hence the cd changer so i can listen to cds at the same time as the sat-nav cd is in the headunit . I will have a looks see, for the factory fitted cabling - not to sure it was fitted in this vintage though ?
I am pretty sure it was fitted on US spec cars from 94 or when they started using the head unit with the removable keypad. Have a look.

I've undone the 2 rear seat pad retaining bolts, but cant seem to be able to remove them the manual (Haynes) say's you just push them up to remove, but that doesn't seem to work on mine - i didnt to dmanage anything by forcing it. You you know how to remove the rear seats (need access to the cable hole in the bodywork behind the seat.

Hi Chris, A few days ago I went in the back of my 900 SE cabrio and removed the soft cloth on the left side. Behind it I found a lot of cables that went to the tail lichts. Bundled with it I found a loose cable that doesnt fit. It was tye'd together with the other cables with tyrip's I had to cut a few. Their was my CD changer cable. My car is from 96. Hope you can do sommething with this info.
