Tyres for 9000 2.0 LPT (UK)

Hi,

I got a 97 9000 2.0lt LPT engine car. In the 50K miles I had the car it has become clear it likes its tyres (and I like the fun pedal and even more being hard on the brake pedal) so I am not complaining about the mileage I get although more miles would be nicer :-)

I use what the car had when I got it, Pirelli P6000 195x65x15. On mildly wet roads (moist as opposed to having water from rain) the front wheels are happy to spin on acceleration, lock on heavy(ish) breaking and really happy on roundabouts and other 90 degree corners ... so am I with the fun pedal. Other wise the tyres have been well behaved (I think) in the dry and the wet.

Has anyone had any experience with other tyres that may give better grip on moist conditions, be quiet and good on fuel economy?

Cheers Charles

"mildly wet roads" could also refer to the roads just wet enough to float the oil film off the road. This can be worse than ice. After a heavy rain, this oil film is washed off the road. This might be why your tyres have better traction with rain on the road.
